We are delighted to announce that BERKM Inc., one of our esteemed portfolio companies, has been awarded a U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I grant. This grant will support their research and development on a cutting-edge clay-PET nanocomposite.

Their innovative composite material promises to use up to 20% less plastic per packaging and extend product shelf life by 5X-6X. The NSF SBIR/STTR program, also known as America’s Seed Fund powered by NSF, awards more than $200 million annually to startups and small businesses, transforming scientific discoveries into products and services with commercial and societal impact. Startups can receive up to $2 million to support research and development, helping de-risk technology for commercial success.
